Our
next group of the season hailed from California. Tony was nice enough to pack some of the weather up with
him and bring it north. Fog delayed our departure on two of the days till
late morning, but otherwise the weather was perfect. Pinks had thinned
out a bunch since the last
trip (thanks to the Derby challenges) and the
fishing was quite enjoyable. The only thing interrupting the peace and
quiet of the remote Seward Peninsula was the laughter from one of our
excitable guests. New friendships were made, and Pizon’s from the old
country reunited. Pam quickly picked up on fly tying with Fred’s help and
was successful in landing several fish on her own creations.

A note from Tony:
Ben, Steve, Dave and Fred:
As I sit here in my office overlooking the California State Capitol
building, I have come to realize that your "best seat in the house" is far
superior. The reading material is also better than anything in our
newspapers. So as a result I have embarked on a few life changing paths:
1. Helicopter pilot lessons are in my future .

2. Over Deb's objection, I am building an outhouse in our backyard (using
your design as a model).
3. Fred, I am on the hunt for an Albright 3 weight. I will let you know
how it goes.

4. Dave, I have stolen Deb's pink hat. Getting a lot of looks around
town.

5. Steve, your great cooking caused me to put on some weight while we
were there. Thanks alot, now I have to exercise.

Hope all is well in Nome. Let me know if you need
help with the weather.
Tony
